  Ceramic workshop in Al Dieseh brings new opportunity to Wadi Rum

   A ceramic workshop in Wadi Rum, which was supported by USAID/Siyaha, has created new employment opportunities for women in the village of Al Dieseh. Now women like Muna, who is the workshop supervisor, can look forward to earning a salary and contributing to their household incomes.
 
   
  Increased tourism investment in Madaba

   Since USAID/Siyaha work began in Madaba in late 2005, and with the launch of the Madaba Tourism Development Strategy in May 2006, there has been a proliferation of small and medium-sized tourism enterprises, and the entrepreneurial momentum continues to pick up speed. The conditions are ripe for investment in tourism, and the locals are well aware of this.
 
   
  Her Majesty Launched the Madaba Vocational Training Center
January 29th, 2007 
   Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah inaugurated the Center for Hotel and Tourism Training at the Madaba Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) on January 29, 2007. The center is part of an initiative to develop the VTC Hotel and Tourism Centers.
 
   
  Madaba Locals Reap the Benefits of the Holiday Festivals
January 23rd, 2007 
   Towards the end of 2006, the MTA launched the first holiday-themed festivals, Layali Madaba in October and a Christmas festival in December, which served to turn the historic city into a hub of festivity that drew in thousands of visitors. The festivals also planted the seeds for future thematic events, and the Madaba locals are excited about the benefits that this new influx will bring.
