Tourism Development Strategy and Enterprise Development
Program
Siyaha
worked with local and national government entities and businesses
to created the Madaba Tourism Development Strategy and Enterprise
Development Program-a plan to develop the Madaba area into
a premier tourism location. The strategy aims to create
a tourist destination "cluster" in the governorate
by capitalizing on the area's unique archaeological, natural
and religious sites.
The strategy focuses
on four areas:

Product development and competitiveness-capitalizing
on the area's existing resources and local charm,
develop the quality and range of services and products
offered to tourists.
- Marketing to international and local tourists-working
with the Jordan Tourism Board and the local community,
implement targeted promotional activities to draw
tourists to the area.
- Developing human resources-improve the quality of
service for tourists by strengthening vocational and
management talent.
- Developing institutions and an enabling environment-create
an environment that supports industry growth through
strong institution and sound regulations.

Strategy Goals
- Earn JD 21 million
annually
- Support 3,700 tourism-based jobs
- Create 400 tourism-related enterprises
- Extend the average length of stay for international
tourists
- Attract 27,800 "bed nights"

Strategy Implementation
Siyaha is working with key stakeholders from the government
and private sector to implement the strategy across multiple
fronts.

The Madaba Tourism Enterprise Development Program is
supporting the creation and growth of tourism businesses
in the governorate. Siyaha developed a comprehensive
package for eligible enterprises and entrepreneurs that
includes training and counseling, grants, business development
services and financial support. Read more about Siyaha's

- Destination management committees
are focusing the governorate's development in eight
key tourism areas: religious tourism; marketing and
branding; food and lodging; cultural events; arts,
crafts and retailing; public awareness and education;
traffic licensing and public services; and adventure
and sports. These committees are spearheading local
participation in strategy implementation.
- The Madaba Tourism Association,
which was created with Siyaha support, is organizing
the community's tourism stakeholders and strengthening
implementation efforts.
