Project Newsletter - July

Last month, Jordanian university students of hospitality and tourism programs are proving they have what it takes to succeed in the international culinary arena by winning the Hilton Youth Cooking Competition. In Aqaba, a new Restaurant Classification Scheme is being implemented to improve the quality of tourism restaurants and raise Jordan’s image as a world class destination that excels in providing an enjoyable food experience for tourists and guests. The tourism industry in Aqaba and around Jordan is benefiting from a training program on how to ‘Develop and Implement an Effective Crisis Communications Plan’ which will help them prepare for and manage any potential tourism crisis. Meanwhile, the USAID Economic Growth Through Sustainable Tourism Project is preparing for a busy month in August with a wide range of training initiatives taking place that aim to build the capacity of Jordan’s tourism industry professionals. See the list of upcoming training events below. To participate or inquire about any event, please contact the USAID tourism project at [email protected].
