Background

The Jordan Trail (http://jordantrail.org/) crosses and connects the length of the Kingdom of Jordan from Um Qais in the north to Aqaba and the Red Sea in the south. This National trail:
-­‐ Enables both Jordanians and tourists to enjoy healthy recreation;
-­‐ Inspires people to appreciate Jordan; its heritage, nature, beauty and diversity;
-­‐ Opens opportunities for enriching encounters with diverse peoples and cultures. The Jordan Trail Association (JTA) has been formed to manage, run and market the Jordan Trail.

The goals of the JTA are (1) to make the trail accessible, safe and enjoyable for all its guests, and (2) that the trail introduces benefits to the people and communities living around it. An exciting opportunity now exists for a General Manager to join the Jordan Trail Association. The General Manager will lead a full time Trail Manager, a full time Administrative Coordinator and other specialist support, to deliver on the goals of the JTA. The General Manager will also work closely with the Board of JTA, and with other National and local stakeholders who can support the ambition of the trail. The General Manager is likely to have 10 years work experience, and a background in one (or a combination) of the following areas:

-­‐ Tourism development
-­‐ Marketing
-­‐ Working with NGOs
-­‐ Enterprise development
-­‐ National associations / organizations
-­‐ Local community development
-­‐ Project management
