This month the USAID Building Economic Sustainability through Tourism Project (BEST) was excited to see the fruits of the past couple of years’ work on the Jerash Visitor Center. Renovations began under the previous iteration of USAID’s tourism development project in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The transformed visitor center is an informative and stunning addition to the Jerash archaeological site, providing visitors with an enhanced tourism experience. Also this month, BEST project organized a seminar in cooperation with the Greater Amman Municipality and the Jordan Federation of Tourism Associations on how walkable places transform the urban landscape through the rejuvenation of public spaces. For interested Jordanian inbound tour operators, BEST project is offering ten grants for cooperative marketing plans during the period of February 2016 – December 2016 with the aim of scaling up market reach and driving bookings. BEST is still accepting applications for its Tourism Partnership Fund Grants Program. See below for more information.
