Women in Petra craft silver jewelry

A woman works on an item of silver jewelry at the Nabatean Women’s Cooperative of Wadi Mousa, which was upgraded with support from the USAID Tourism Project II to improve working conditions and employ more women. Twenty women are employed at the workshop, which received a grant from the USAID/Jordan Tourism Development Project to purchase needed equipment and materials to improve the working environment. The grant will also help the women improve their designs and market their products to increase sales and reap greater economic benefits.
