Tourism awareness

Despite the economic importance of tourism and the number of jobs it generates, there is a general negative perception of the tourism sector among Jordanians and this is hindering its development and growth. To address this issue, the USAID/Jordan Tourism Development Project II will pursue the next phases of the National Tourism Awareness Campaign, which was launched in May 2007 by the first USAID tourism project in coordination with MoTA. This campaign aims to get the message across to Jordanians kingdom-wide about the importance and benefits of tourism. In addition, communities living near or around tourism attractions will be targeted through a campaign to make them more aware of how they can support the local tourism experience and encourage the establishment of tourism-related businesses.
